Weekly Bulletin – October 4, 2021

October 4th, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin As you may have heard, school districts across the region are responding to the need to clarify student vaccination plans. Recently the two largest school districts in the State made plans to ensure the vaccination of all eligible students as a condition to attend on-campus learning. HSHMC’s student vaccination plan will be on the agenda at its next school board meeting. It is in all our interests that every eligible San Diegan get vaccinated. To support this, we have scheduled three vaccination clinics here at HSHMC with Sharp HealthCare, the first of which is tomorrow, Monday, October 4 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. It is not too late to make an appointment at  MyTurn.ca.gov. Walk-ins are also welcome and encouraged if you cannot make an appointment. Two more clinics have been set up as well on October 25 and November 15 for both 1st and 2nd doses. Please come and get vaccinated. As always we strongly recommend you contact your physician if you have any health concerns or questions regarding vaccination safety. If your child is already fully vaccinated, please remember to provide the school with a copy of the vaccination card for our records. This Wednesday, October 6 at 5:30 pm is our Virtual Parent Advisory College Knowledge Night. All are welcome, however this session will be geared towards our current 12th grade students and their parents as we focus on the fall college application process and financial aid. The link for the session will be located on our website and the email part of this message. We will hold a second College Knowledge Night in the Spring for families of our juniors. College Knowledge Night (Password: college) Your child’s health and wellness are very important to us. HSHMC is committed to supporting the mental and emotional wellness of our students as these barriers can impact student success. Access to community pupil mental health services and resources is made available through our website. Weekly Bulletin – September 27, 2021

September 27th, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin This Wednesday, September 29 at 5:00 pm is our first Virtual Parent Advisory Group meeting of the year. We hope to increase our membership each year and invite you to join this wonderful group of parents partnering with us to make HSHMC the best school in the universe. Our Parent Advisory Group helps to plan programs and activities that support our HSHMC students and families. If you would like to attend, please join us using the link on our website. https://hshmc.zoom.us/j/85822899664 Meeting ID: 858 2289 9664 This Wednesday at lunch there is a college information meeting for seniors to help them start the application process for CSU and UC schools and the FAFSA which opens on October 1st. Our Virtual College Knowledge night for families is on October 6 at 5:30 pm. Our free trip for students to Knott’s Berry Farm is scheduled for Saturday November 13 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Students must be fully vaccinated and have turned in proof to HSHMC. For students to reserve their spot, they need to pick up a permission slip from the front desk and return it along with proof of vaccination. If you have already turned in a copy of their card, we have that on file. It’s not too late to get vaccinated! Sharp HealthCare will be here on campus October 4 from 10:00 to 2:00 pm. The clinic is open to all HSHMC students, families and community members 12 years and older. Make an appointment now at  MyTurn.ca.gov. Each year HSHMC families are required to complete an Income Eligibility Form (similar to the lunch application). Weekly Bulletin – September 13, 2021

September 13th, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin We are excited that our students will begin their College and internship classes this week on either Monday or Wednesday. If your child is fully vaccinated, please provide the school with a copy of the vaccination card for our records. Feel free to just take a picture of the card and email it to gortega@hshmc.org, mail it in, or drop it by. Anyway that is easiest for you to get it to us as soon as possible. For those of you who have not yet been vaccinated, we are working to set up another clinic with Sharp HealthCare here at HSHMC in the next few weeks. We will provide the date of clinic as soon as it is confirmed. We are asking that every family create a parent account on PowerSchool in order to track your child’s grades and attendance. Access codes were mailed home to you last week in a letter to families. Creating Powerschool Parent Account

If you need assistance you can contact our HSHMC Tech Team at hshmctech@hshmc.org or (619) 528-9070 Option 3 To create your PowerSchool Parent Account follow these steps: Navigate to our HSHMC PowerSchool Page. Click on the "Create Account" tab then the "Create Account" button Fill out the information, including your email address (Parent's personal email), desired username, and create your password.  In the second section fill in your student's name and the provided Access ID and Access Password associated with their account.

Weekly Bulletin – September 7th, 2021

September 7th, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin Thank you for everything you did to help us create a very special and successful first week of learning. It was wonderful to reconnect and engage with our students and families. Students will be in regular classes this week. Our college and internship classes will be begin next week. All students on campus will be Covid tested today, September 7, 2021. If you have not yet registered your child for the testing, please do so using the link on our website. If your child is fully vaccinated, please provide the school with a copy of the vaccination card for our records. If is easier for you to take a picture of the card and email it to us, you can email it to gortega@hshmc.org. As we begin a new year together, please remember that daily attendance is extremely important and directly related to student success. If your child is going to be absent from either in-person or online learning, please call the school at 619-528-9070. We are asking that every family create a parent account on PowerSchool in order to track your child’s grades and attendance, and to easily access forms, surveys, and communications from us.
