Weekly Bulletin – January 11th, 2021
Jan. 11, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin This Friday, January 15th our HSHMC staff will be engaging in a day of staff development. Students are not expected to attended Zoom classes on Friday. We hope that students will take advantage of the extra time to catch up on any assignments due given that the end of the semester is fast approaching. There is also no school on Monday, January 18 in honor of MLK Day. Quarter 2 ends on Friday, January 29. Please check your child's grades on PowerSchool. It is expected that any student who holds an incomplete in any course is actively taking advantage of teachers' online office hours and resources we have put in place to support their academic efforts. If you need any help logging into PowerSchool, please contact us. We are planning to hand out supplies for quarter 3 classes January 27-29 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am outside at HSHMC (with social distance measures in place). More details on this will be coming to you soon. The next virtual New Student Orientation (password: APPLY) for new families applying for 9th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year is scheduled for Thursday, January 21 at 5:30 pm. If you know other families interested in applying to HSHMC, we appreciate you letting them know about this informative orientation. The link for the orientation can be found on our website. Please also note that our open enrollment application period ends February 1. If you have not already submitted an application for a sibling of a current HSHMC student, please do so before the February 1 deadline As a reminder, nutritious meals are available to you through San Diego Unified's Curbside Grab and Go Meal program. Meals are available to all HSHMC students Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm from our designated meal pick up location at Wilson Middle School (3838 Orange Avenue). If this location is not convenient for you, please go to the link on our website as part of this message for other locations. Jan. 04, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin We look forward welcoming back all our students tomorrow morning as we enter 2021 with our HSHMC family. We are hopeful that the new year will be filled with new beginnings and good health as we continue to learn and grow together. This Thursday, January 7 at 5:30 pm is a virtual New Student Orientation (password: APPLY) for new families applying for 9th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year. If you know other families interested in applying to HSHMC, we appreciate you letting them know about this informative orientation. Please also note that our open enrollment application period ends February 1. If you have not already submitted an application for a sibling of a current HSHMC student, please do so before the February 1 deadline. Dec. 14, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin This Friday is the last day of school before winter break. School will resume virtually on Monday, January 4th. Help us meet our goal of clearing all incompletes before winter break! Together we can support our students to make this happen by this Friday. If your child is still carrying an "I" (Incomplete) from Quarter 1, attendance at their academic recovery class is mandatory until all incompletes are cleared. It is also expected that any student who holds an incomplete in any course is actively taking advantage of teachers' online office hours and resources we have put in place to support their academic efforts. Students who do not make an effort to clear their incompletes are at risk of failing the course. Please check your child's grades using PowerSchool. (password: Brain) Please join us for this special session as we explore why our teenagers' brains cause them to think and act the way they do, especially during this time of COVID-19 and Distance Learning. Nov. 29, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin We hope that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We look forward to welcoming back all our students to HSHMC tomorrow. Remember, if you have any technology issues, you can now get quick access to technology support by calling the main school number at 619-528-9070 and choosing option 3. Beginning this year, each HSHMC student is required to complete an Alternative Income Form (similar to the lunch application). By completing this form and turning it in as soon as possible, you are taking part in an important process that that helps us secure critical funding so we can continue to meet the needs of all our students and families. If you are required to fill out this form and we have not already received it, we will be sending you a link to your email so you can complete it easily. The link can also be found on our website as part of this bulletin. This Thursday, December 3 at 5:30 pm is a virtual New Student Orientation (password: WELCOME) for new families applying for 9th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year.
