Jan. 25, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin Quarter 2 ends this Friday, January 29. We will be handing out school supplies for Quarter 3 classes this Wednesday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 10:00 am outside at HSHMC (with social distance measures in place). 9th and 10th grade pick up is on Wednesday, 11th and 12th grade pick up is on Thursday. Friday will be used for those who are unable to come on their assigned day. If you have more than one HSHMC student in your home and they are assigned to pick up on both Wednesday and Thursday, please pick up for both your children on Thursday. Notifications have been sent to those who have supplies to be picked up. If you or your child did not receive notification, it means that your child already has everything he or she needs for their 3rd quarter classes. When picking up supplies, please remember to bring any text books that need to be returned from a course that has ended. If your child does not need any new school supplies to pick up but has a book to return, please drive through on any of the 3 days to drop them off. Registration forms for Spring college courses are being sent to parent and student emails. The email will come from Docusign with the subject "SIGNATURES REQUIRED: Spring 2021 HSHMC/Cuyamaca College Registration Form.” If you receive this form, please sign and submit by Friday, January 29 so we can enroll your child in their new spring college course. There is another virtual New Student Orientation (password: Apply) for new families applying for 9th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year this Tuesday, January 26 at 5:30 pm. If you know other families interested in applying to HSHMC, we appreciate you letting them know about this informative orientation. The link for the orientation can be found on our website. Jan. 18, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin We are pleased to announce that we have launched a new version of our website. We hope you are as thrilled as we are with the new look and that you find navigating to what you are looking for much easier and more user friendly. Please check us out at the same address as always www.hshmc.org. There is a virtual New Student Orientation (password: Apply) for new families applying for 9th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year this Thursday, January 21 at 5:30 pm. If you know other families interested in applying to HSHMC, we appreciate you letting them know about this informative orientation. The link for the orientation can be found on our website. Please also note that our open enrollment application period ends February 1. If you have not already submitted an application for a sibling of a current HSHMC student, please do so before the February 1 deadline. Quarter 2 ends next Friday, January 29. Please check your child’s grades on PowerSchool. It is expected that any student who holds an incomplete in any course is actively taking advantage of teachers' online office hours and resources we have put in place to support their academic efforts. If you need any help logging into PowerSchool, please contact us. Both you and your child will receive notification if you have supplies that need to be picked up. Jan. 11, 2021- Weekly School Bulletin This Friday, January 15th our HSHMC staff will be engaging in a day of staff development. Students are not expected to attended Zoom classes on Friday. We hope that students will take advantage of the extra time to catch up on any assignments due given that the end of the semester is fast approaching. There is also no school on Monday, January 18 in honor of MLK Day. Quarter 2 ends on Friday, January 29. Please check your child's grades on PowerSchool. It is expected that any student who holds an incomplete in any course is actively taking advantage of teachers' online office hours and resources we have put in place to support their academic efforts. If you need any help logging into PowerSchool, please contact us. We are hopeful that the new year will be filled with new beginnings and good health as we continue to learn and grow together. Dec. 14, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin This Friday is the last day of school before winter break. School will resume virtually on Monday, January 4th. Help us meet our goal of clearing all incompletes before winter break! Together we can support our students to make this happen by this Friday. If your child is still carrying an "I" (Incomplete) from Quarter 1, attendance at their academic recovery class is mandatory until all incompletes are cleared. It is also expected that any student who holds an incomplete in any course is actively taking advantage of teachers' online office hours and resources we have put in place to support their academic efforts. Students who do not make an effort to clear their incompletes are at risk of failing the course. Please check your child's grades using PowerSchool. If you need any help setting up your access, please contact the school and we will gladly help you. Dec. 07, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin This Thursday, December 10, at 5:30 pm, HSHMC is pleased to offer a one-hour virtual Parent Academy entitled "The Teenage Brain." (password: Brain) Please join us for this special session as we explore why our teenagers' brains cause them to think and act the way they do, especially during this time of COVID-19 and Distance Learning. Mark your calendars now and join us using the link posted on our website. Help us meet our goal of clearing all incompletes before winter break! Nov. 29, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin We hope that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We look forward to welcoming back all our students to HSHMC tomorrow. Remember, if you have any technology issues, you can now get quick access to technology support by calling the main school number at 619-528-9070 and choosing option 3. Beginning this year, each HSHMC student is required to complete an Alternative Income Form (similar to the lunch application). By completing this form and turning it in as soon as possible, you are taking part in an important process that that helps us secure critical funding so we can continue to meet the needs of all our students and families. If you are required to fill out this form and we have not already received it, we will be sending you a link to your email so you can complete it easily. The link can also be found on our website as part of this bulletin. Nov. 16, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin HSHMC now has another way for students and families to get quick access to technology support through our newly launched Tech Support Hotline! To reach the Tech Support Hotline students or parents can now call the main school number at 619-528-9070 and choose option 3 (or enter extension 300). We hope having direct access to our technology team will help families and students resolve any tech issues quickly and easily. It is open enrollment time at HSHMC. We are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year for grades 9-12. This open enrollment period ends February 1, 2021. Siblings of current HSHMC students should submit their applications NOW! Please go to our website at www.hshmc.org to apply directly online. And, if you know other families interested in applying, we appreciate you letting them know as well. School will be closed next week, November 23 through November 27 for Thanksgiving Break. Nov. 9, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin Report cards for Quarter 1 were mailed home on Friday along with an informational letter. This letter can also be found on our website at www.hshmc.org. If your child is carrying an "I" (Incomplete) from Quarter 1, an Academic Intervention class has been added to their schedule in addition to their new Quarter 2 classes. Attendance is mandatory at this class until all incompletes are cleared. It is also expected that any student who holds an incomplete in any course is actively taking advantage of teachers' online office hours and resources we have put in place to support their academic efforts. Students who do not make an effort to clear their incompletes are at risk of failing the course. There is no school this Wednesday, November 11, in honor of Veteran's Day. It is open enrollment time at HSHMC. We are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year for grades 9-12. This open enrollment period ends February 1, 2021. Nov. 2, 2020- Weekly School Bulletin If you have not already, please remember to change your clocks back one hour today to adjust for daylight savings time. Monday begins the first day of Quarter 2. Your child's schedule is on PowerSchool and they are expected to log in to their new courses through Canvas tomorrow. If you have any questions about your child's schedule, please reach out to me at sjohnson@hshmc.org. If your child is carrying an "I" (Incomplete) from Quarter 1, an Academic Intervention class has been added to their schedule in addition to their new Quarter 2 classes. Each senior has been given a specific time slot and must arrive on time as assigned. Seniors must have a mask on, temperatures will be taken, and all social distance protocols will be followed. Please see our website for a link to the schedule and order form to purchase pictures. This Tuesday, November 3, in honor of election day, HSHMC will be observing "A Day of Civic Engagement." We are very excited about this important and historic day. Rather than attending their regular classes on Tuesday, students will be invited to engage in a series of Zoom sessions related to the history of voting and discussions on various current propositions on the 2020 ballot. The schedule for the sessions and the Zoom links will be made available to students in advance of our very special day. It is open enrollment time at HSHMC.
