Weekly Bulletin

February 6th, 2023- Weekly School Bulletin Thank you to a great start to our second semester! We have some events and updates for you all this week. We will be continuing with Academic Recovery this week.  Class is from 7:45am-8:15am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If you know your child should be attending ARA, please make sure you are sending them in the morning from Tuesday through Thursday. For those students taking the college Biology lab this semester, the lab meets every Friday on the Cuyamaca campus for the second semester except on school holidays.  Students will not return to HSHMC for pick up until 4:00pm each Friday starting February 3rd.  Your student will know if they are taking this class! HSHMC’s NHS is hosting the San Diego Blood Bank this Tuesday, February 7, from 9am- 2:30pm. If you or your student, who is 17 or older, would like to donate blood please sign-up using the San Diego Blood Bank Link. Senior Dues were due on Jan. 31, 2023 and we still have many students who have not paid.  If you have not yet paid for Senior Dues for your child please pay as soon as possible or contact Ms. Emelie Allen with concerns at eallen@hshmc.org. Again, our KP Sports Complex is now open for students to enjoy on the top floor of our parking garage at HSHMC.  Students can utilize this sports complex during lunch hours or after school from 3:10pm-4:10pm. Attendance matters! Please ensure that your child arrives to school on time every day, so that they are not missing important learning and falling behind in their classes. Please remember to call us if you know that your child will be absent from school.  This way we can excuse their absence for the day they will be missing school.

January 30th, 2023- Weekly School Bulletin Thank you for all of you and your child’s commitment and hard work during our final’s week last week! We are excited to move on to semester 2, which starts this week on Monday, January 30th! We will be continuing with Academic Recovery this semester.  Class is from 7:45am-8:15am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If your child has any incompletes from semester 1, this will be the time for them to clear and complete some of their missed classwork/assignments. If you know your child should be attending ARA, please make sure you are sending them in the morning from Tuesday through Thursday. Academic Recovery will also be after school every day this week from 1-3pm in order to prepare students for finals on Thursday and Friday. If your child has any incompletes in their classes they should be attending ARA in order to complete missed classwork/assignments. If you know your child should be attending ARA, please make sure you are sending them in the morning from Tuesday through Thursday and in the afternoon this week from 1-3pm. As a reminder, Senior Dues are due on January 31st.  The dues are $85 in total which include your students cap and gown, senior t-shirt, and yearbook. Welcome to finals week!  Friday will be the last day of the first semester. Finals will be Thursday and Friday, the 26th and 27th.  Students will be released early at 12:30pm every day this week, so please ensure you child has transportation from school. Attendance matters! January 17th, 2022- Weekly School Bulletin We will be continuing with Academic Recovery this week. Class is from 7:45am-8:15am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If your child has any incompletes in their classes they should be attending ARA in order to complete missed classwork/assignments. If you know your child should be attending ARA, please make sure you are sending them in the morning from Tuesday through Thursday. As a reminder, we will not have school on Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will return to school on Tuesday, January 17th. Enjoy your 3-day weekend! If you are interested in joining our school’s Parent Committee, please join us for our next meeting this week via Zoom on Tuesday, January 17th at 4:30pm. Sharp HealthCare will be on campus this Tuesday, January 17th, to provide TB tests and Flu shots to students who will be attending hospital internships 2nd semester and have not already received their TB or Flu. No TB or Flu shots will be given without parent permission. If you have not yet provided permission and your child needs TB or flu, please return the permission slip on Tuesday that was given to your child. This Tuesday, January 10th, our 10th graders will be off campus to attend a field study at Balboa Park to extend their learning outside of the classroom. The students will leave HSHMC at 9:00am and arrive back to school at 1:00pm. We will provide students bagged lunches or your students can bring money to purchase snacks at the park or bring their own lunch. December 12th, 2022- Weekly School Bulletin This will be our last week of school before winter break. The last day before winter break is December 16 th . School will be closed between December 19 th and January 2 nd . Classes resume on January 3, 2023. We will be continuing with Academic Recovery this week. Class is from 7:45am-8:15am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If your child has any incompletes in their classes they should be attending ARA in order to complete missed classwork/assignments. If you know your child should be attending ARA, please make sure you are sending them in the morning from Tuesday through Thursday. The Community Engagement Club will be collecting donations through Wednesday of non- perishable food items, clothes, and hygienic supplies. We appreciate any and all donations to help support our community. We will be having Spirit Week all this week with a fun theme each day. We also have a Winter Sports Pep Rally on the new Sports Deck at lunch on Tuesday.  The theme for each day is as follows: Monday - Pajama Day Tuesday - Anything but a Backpack Wednesday - Twin Day Thursday - Adam Sandler Day Friday - Holiday Spirit and Ugly Sweater If you are interested in joining our school’s Parent Committee, please join us for our next meeting via Zoom on December 13 th at 4:30pm. November 21st, 2022- Weekly School Bulletin There will be no school next week, November 21st through November 25th, in observance of Thanksgiving.  Have a wonderful and restful break!

November 14th, 2022- Weekly School Bulletin We will be continuing with Academic Recovery this week. Class is from 7:45am-8:15am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If your child has any incompletes in their classes they should be attending ARA in order to complete missed classwork/assignments. If you know your child should be attending ARA, please make sure you are sending them in the morning from Tuesday through Thursday. This week is the last week before Thanksgiving break. School will be closed from Monday, November 21st through Friday, November, 25 th . Enjoy your holiday break! Senior picture day retakes will be this week on Thursday, November 17 th , during school. If your child was absent or did not take their picture, please make sure they come to school on time this day to get their senior picture taken. If you have any non-perishables to donate, our NHS team are holding a food drive all this week. These items can include canned food, grains, dry goods, dehydrated fruits and vegetables, etc. Our open enrollment has started for the 2023-2024 school year. November 7th, 2022- Weekly School Bulletin We will be continuing with Academic Recovery this week. Class is from 7:45am-8:15am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Quarter Grades were also mailed out last week, so please ensure that you are looking out for those in the mail this week. Daylight Savings time ends on Sunday, November 6 th , giving you an extra hour of sleep! Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour and make sure that your child arrives at school on time. There will be no school on Friday, November 11 th , in observance of Veteran’s Day. Thank you to those of our families who serve or have served in the U.S. armed forces.
